Active Toddlers

Music & Movement Program for Toddlers

Active Toddlers is a fantastic program designed to introduce movement and exercise to children ages 1.5 to 2.5 years old. The main objective is to provide toddlers with a variety of activities to keep them interested and engaged while exploring the elements of dance, music, and yoga.

Toddlers will enjoy all the benefits of physical exercise and develop critical skills including coordination, rhythm, flexibility, balance and spatial awareness. The focus of each lesson can be shifted towards specific elements based on the goals and preferences of individual schools and child care organizations.

Program Goals

  • Allow toddlers to have fun and enjoy the freedom of physical exercise
  • Encourage creativity in ways that builds self-esteem
  • Target specific learning goals to help toddlers develop motor skills
  • Encourage learning through play to reach educational milestones
  • Teach about communication and problem-solving
  • Teach children to connect movement to self-expression and learning

Active Toddlers Curriculum

The Curriculum provides dozens of developmental activities grouped under general movement “Themes” (ie. Parts of the Body, Stretch, Shake). Each “Theme” has a variety of storylines, games, songs, dances, and poses that continue to explore the theme. The various activities focus on the different areas of the program: Yoga, Dance, Music – or in some cases the activity may draw on more than one aspect (ie. Dance and Music). The overall program approach is to engage children in a playful and exciting storyline filled with creative movement, positive emotions, and exciting discoveries.
